The offices were constructed within a live tertiary environment, occupied by staff and students. We remained vigilant of the impact construction works would have on the wider RMIT community.
The upgrade included resilient Australian timber finishes and vibrant hand-blown glass light fittings.

The project was delivered in full collaboration with RMIT’s direct contractors and suppliers. Cerno Management acted as the superintendent on the project, which is now being enjoyed by the diverse student body at RMIT.

Our team worked collaboratively with numerous project stakeholders to deliver this high end 6000m2 fit out amidst extremely testing conditions and constrained timeframes.

Works consisted of custom flooring, bespoke joinery, contemporary fixtures and fittings, full services infrastructure, feature lighting and coordination of specialty retail shopfitting companies.

The redevelopment of the existing building saw three quarters of the structure demolished and an increase to the structure’s footprint. New function space, a chapel, consultation rooms and offices were built to allow InvoCare to operate all functions of the funeral process from the one location.

The project was an exciting challenge for the team, with the structure of the building being held up by laminated glulam timber that was left exposed to add warmth throughout the finished building. The chapel had new 8 metre vaulted ceilings, with full-height glazing to the back of the chapel, allowing a flood of natural light throughout the space, as well as great viewing of the manicured landscaping throughout the back garden.

InvoCare noted that this building will stand as an example for their business and we are proud to have delivered it alongside them.

This project was highly detailed with a very specific designs from RMIT to match existing schemes in other locations around Victoria.

The project was constructed within a live tertiary environment with many stakeholders occupying the surrounding offices.

The upgrade also included a refreshing upgrade to the original 40-year-old flooring and new lighting and scoreboards installed. The project was delivered in full collaboration with RMIT’s direct contractors and suppliers.

The scope consisted over a conversion of the bakery and deli areas, modifications to shop-front checkouts, lighting upgrade, complete remove of the existing vinyl and replacing the floors with a polished concrete floor to the existing slab , sales floor walls, sales floor ceilings and back of house painting upgrades.

The works were completed out of hours while the store continued to trade during the day and early evening. Prime Build were able to ensure the client was able to continue to trade each day and was presented with a clean store prior to store opening every morning.

All works were completed with minimal disruption to ACM’s operations.

KEY LEARNINGS

Clear communication is the key to ensuring client expectations are managed. There were instances on this project where Prime Build had missed the mark at times, however we acknowledge our shortfalls and worked hard to overcome them. As a result Prime Build has been awarded ACM’s landmark forecourt café project.
