ALDI Engadine Project Refresh, NSW

ALDI had an existing store in Engadine shopping centre and was planned for a refit and extension as part of the Project Fresh roll out.

The existing store was to be extended by 8 meters in length by taking existing retail space by other tenants once they had vacated.

Prime Build developed a strategy to undertake the project in a two stage process to enable minimum disruption to the store trading operations.

The project was tracked in real time as built programme documented as the project progressed, allowing Prime Build to identify programme items that could be improved to amend future programmes of fresh roll outs. The key learning from this project is that the time could be reduced if direct subcontractors and suppliers operated 24 hours.

Maitland Mall, NSW

The Maitland Mall shopping centre was a tired, undercapitalised retail centre located in in NSW’s Hunter region.

Prime Build were engaged to revitalise the centre, works consisting of a complete refresh of mall areas, anchor tenant shopfront, amenities and a new food court and tenancy repositioning.

A staged works program was adopted to minimise disruption to the shops within the mall, as well as careful attention to dust minimisation and a focus on completing works prior to handover and exposure to Mall customers to reduce the impact of the refurbishment to their daily experience in the centre.

Kmart Blacktown, NSW

In 2014 the Prime Build team complete the internal refurbishment of Kmart Blacktown, the first Kmart in NSW.

In 2015-16 it was decided that this retail landmark, the second Kmart to be built in Australia, deserved to be given a new look on the exterior as well. Given its 47 year history it was clear this community icon needed to be designed with the local shopper in mind and our team was honoured to be part of the project. What does such a community staple deserve – nothing less than a one of a kind design concept, a new look to be introduced into the Kmart family. The bright colours, lighting and multi-coloured mural makes this Kmart the brightest in the company and something the entire community can be proud of.

ALDI Eastgardens Shopping Centre, NSW

Prime Build’s scope involved a full store refurbishment and new shop front, utilising a 9 day shutdown period.

There were many hurdles to overcome due to the location of the store within the shopping centre. Challenges that we were overcome included noise restraints, restricted access, loading dock location, and scheduling of deliveries precisely in order to maintain a tight timeframe.

Prime Build were able to deliver the refurbishment’s schedule of works, including the new shop front, whilst managing these logistical obstacles.

Prime Build delivered a brand new successfully refurbished store. This was done without any delay to the client, with the end result providing a vibrant new shopping experience to the customer.

Myer Pitt St Sydney, NSW

This successful yet challenging project was delivered to a tight programme, in a difficult environment.

Our works included demolition of all finishes to an existing tired trading floor of approximately 4,500m², new flooring throughout, construction of dome ceiling, structural works and associated finishes.

The works were completed with minimal effects to the rest of the store. Staged completion of the floor, and hand back to the Myer retail staff to restock, allowed the refurbished floor to commence trading on the day the builder’s works were completed.

ALDI Westleigh, NSW

It is no secret that Australia’s largest discount grocery chain ALDI has big expansion plans in 2016-17.

Being the 400th store to be launched meant that we were working to a specific date for store opening. At the time we were engaged to deliver this project, ALDI was also considering its Project Fresh program, the result of a recent customer experience review. We had already begun to construct some concepts that had come about as part of this review, however near the later stages of completion we were requested to change the shop front design to the new Project Fresh scope. The adaptability of the Prime Build team meant we were able to deliver these changes on time and on budget. Aldi celebrated the launch of their 400^th store on 17^th March 2016.
