In March 2025 the Woolworths Pialba store was flooded by the devastating effects of Tropical Cyclone Alfred in Hervey Bay Queensland.
Prime Build promptly responded to the call of assistance and with previous experience in flood recovery works in NSW and QLD were able to rally teams to begin the strip out of the store.
A strategy was developed to rebuild and improve the store with a hybrid renewal that included a brand new direct-to-boot service. With supermarket shelves stripped bare in the region there were many challenges in getting the project completed in 15 weeks by the advertised store opening date to give the community reassurance.
The scope included the upgrade of all refrigeration plants from 404 to C02, new cool/ freezer rooms, upgrades to 2 other stores and a temporary pop-up e-store. With an ever-changing design, certification scope and budget, it took a monumental effort by the Prime Build team and Contractors to complete the project.
We are proud to say that the project was a success with the doors reopening on time as requested to a improved store and a grateful community.
